What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
Coaching focuses on future goals, actions, and potential, helping individuals achieve specific objectives with a collaborative, present/future-oriented approach. Counseling addresses past issues, healing emotional wounds, and treating mental health conditions (anxiety, depression) with a clinical, past/present focus, requiring licensed professionals. Key differences lie in focus (future vs. past/present), scope (development vs. diagnosis/treatment), and qualifications (variable vs. licensed degrees), with counseling delving into deeper emotional pain and coaching propelling forward momentum.
